LAOAF4 - Luang Prabang and Vientiane

 
Day Itinerary Meal
1 Departure from Bangkok at 10.20 am and arrive at Luang Prabang at 12.10 pm. Meet the guide at the airport, check in hotel, then visit former Royal Capital, Luang Prabang, the crown jewel of the ancient Lane Xang Empire- the Land of a Million Elephants. Then your guide will take you to a local restaurant to try the local cuisine for Lunch. After Lunch take a spin around Luang Prabang with your guide and you can understand why it deserves the World Heritage title.

Visit Wat Visoun ,the site of impressive Thad Makmo stupa. The rounded dome is stylistically more Sinhalese than Lao Phou Sii hill stands right in the center of this small city. Climb its 350 steps to enjoy commanding views for many miles in each direction. Then continue to visit Wat Mai. Built in 1796, the five – tiered roof of the wooden Sim (chapel) emphasize the graceful Luang Prabang architectural style. Wat Xieng Thong is considered to emphasize & characterize the uniqueness of Luang Prapang’s local style, its several roofs sweep low to the ground. See also the Impressive ”tree of life” mosaic here. The gilt panel on the exterior of the chapel depicts semi-erotic episode from the Ramayana, then return to your hotel. This town is wonderful for walking, spend the rest of the day exploring or relaxing on your own.

2 Luang Prabang – Pak Ou – Ting Caves (by boat on Mekong River)- Phanom Weaving Village After breakfast begin a full day boat trip on the mighty Mekong River to visit the Pak Ou Caves with their laoquered Buddha statues lunch at local restaurant. Then make a visit to the village of Ban Phanom where traditional Lao textiles are woven on ancient wooden looms. Then return to Luang Prabang and spend the rest of the day at leisure, Luang Prabang is a wonderful walking town and you can find dinner on your own at any number of clean & delicious international restaurants

3 Luang Prabang – Khuangsii water fall – Vientiane. After Breakfast drive with your guide by car up to the Tad Khuang Sii waterfall. The fall cascade over many calcifierd tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool Turquoise pools. The water here has a clear blue-green tint due to the high mineral content. You can climb the stairs and look down from various high viewpoints on the way to the top. Enjoy a picnic lunch late in the afternoon and then return to the hotel to relax or explore at your leisure till you flight to Vientiane.

Then city tour visit Hoprakeo was build in 1566 by king Setthathirat to house the emerald Buddha, Sisaket only temple in Vientiane that has survived the destruction of the city by the Siamese (Thai) in 1828, Thatluang Stupa Museum shrin(great Sacred Stupa) is the most important national monument in Vientiane, with golden stupa believed to contain a relic of Lord Buddha, Pratuxay Monument is situatedin the center of Vientiane prefecture, its architecture is inspired the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and incorporates typical Lao Motifs, see the sunset at Mekong Riverside. Then transfer to the Airport flight out from Laos
